Bumming Around Slovenia

Yes, I'm a horrible blogger at the moment. Being worked to death at camp while dealing with life changes that rival an episode of The OC along with moving everything you own across the Atlantic leaves little time for blogging. But here is the latest installment of our fantabulous Eurotrip, replete with photos for your viewing pleasure.

The next leg of our travels took us to a few places in Slovenia: Piran, a coastal town with pizza to rival any Italian city,  Bohinj, just outside of the famous Lake Bled, and the capital city of Ljubjana. I was very impressed with everything Slovenian-the food was delicious, the people were beyond accommodating, and the scenery was spectacular, to say the least. We rented a car for our time in Slovenia, and it was a great choice. We stopped at lots of small villages along the way, and it helped us get a feel for Slovenian life. I highly recommend renting a car if you travel around Slovenia!

In Piran, we explored the harbor and the old town, and took some time to enjoy pizza and beer dock-side. Unlike Cologne, it was really hot, so it was nice to be able to break out our summer clothes we had packed. We wanted to join the masses diving into the Adriatic, but alas, didn't have our swimsuits with us.

Lake Bled was amazing in and of itself! The water was crystal clear, and we rented a rowboat to check out the island in the middle of the lake. We definitely learned who the experienced rower was (hint: it wasn't Bryce). Another highlight of the area was staying in Bohinj, where there is a lesser-known lake that is just as beautiful and pure as Bled.

Finally, we spent a rainy day in the capital, Ljubjana. There were a lot of cool things to see, including the castle that sat overlooking the city, the Dragon Bridge, and many open-air markets selling everything from sheep fleeces to delicious treats. And you know how much I love treats.

Stay tuned for Croatia, coming next!
